years old, and their parents for the social and educational challenges that young children face as they
develop. Each head start program focuses on providing comprehensive services designed to enhance a child's
emotional, social, cultural, language, reading, mathematics, science, health and nutrition education.

The federally funded Head Start is a comprehensive child development program that serves qualifying pre-school children and their families. Head Start is a child-focused program and has the overall goal of increasing the school readiness of young children in low-income families.
Our Head Start program promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children through the provision of educational, health, nutritional, social and other services to enrolled children and families. We engage parents in their children's learning and help them in making progress toward their educational, literacy, and employment goals.
The Federal Office of Head Start appoints CDI HS to operate a Head Start/Early Head Start program when the existing grantee’s responsibility ceases. Examples of circumstances under which this could occur are: a grantee may be suspended, terminated, or relinquish their grant (voluntary termination). Suspensions and terminations may occur due to financial, health and safety or other issues in operating a program.
The CADC Head Start program was started in 1967 to give children from low-income families a head start before they enter elementary school. The main focus is to increase the school readiness of young children ages 3 and 4. The program also seeks to help parents and caregivers be empowered to self sufficiency. Children in the program have access to educational resources, health and dental services, nutritional services, and social services. A major function of the CADC Head Start program is family involvement.
The Cleveland County School District-Cleveland County Head Start-ABC Program is a non-profit organization providing services to low-income children and families since 1967. Our program is administered by the Cleveland County School District with the District Superintendent serving as the Executive Director. We are comprised of three centers located on the public school campuses of Rison, Kingsland, and Woodlawn. Currently, we are fully enrolled with 108 Head Start Children and 28 children that are a part of a state operated preschool program called Arkansas Better Chance for School Success which is located exclusively in the Rison and Woodlawn Centers.

The Early Childhood Education Department provides child development services and activities, health services, nutrition assistance, special services, for children with disabilities, parental involvement, volunteer participation, staff training and other social and support services to over 1,000 children and their families.
Head Start offers educational programs for children ages 3 to 5 and a wide variet of opportunities and support services for their families. Since 1966, thousands of low income families, from man different backgrounds, joined with Head Start to help their children succeed in school and succeed in life. The Economic Opportunit Agenc (EOA) sponsors eight centers in neighborhoods throughout Washington Country. Ever Head Start Center sponsored b EOA offers a safe, caing environment where both children and parents come to learn, grow and achieve, all at no charge to the families who use these sevices.

Head Start grantee and delegate agencies provide a range of individualized services in the areas of education and early childhood development; medical, dental, and mental health; nutrition; and parent involvement. In addition, the entire range of Head Start services is responsive and appropriate to each child's and family's developmental, ethnic, cultural, and linguistic heritage and experience.
