Eight Northern Indian Pueblos Head Start program provides
comprehensive early education and support services
for children age’s three to five and their families. The
program provides supportive services in the areas of health
and dental care, nutrition, special education, parent skill
workshops and social services. Children are provided with a
daily breakfast and lunch, which meet all federal and state
nutrition guidelines. Classrooms operate from September
through May, Mondays through Thursdays from 8:15am to
12:15pm.

Who is Eligible?
Children who are 3 to 5 years old are eligible for Head Start services. Pregnant women and
children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and
families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for
services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be
eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some
grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines
as well.

How do I apply for WIC?
Use the WIC Prescreening Tool to see if you might be eligible for WIC.
To apply for WIC, you need to contact a local WIC office at 1-505-852-1381 *5. The local WIC office will give you a date and time for a WIC certification visit. At this visit, the household income and the medical/nutrition status of each applicant will be reviewed. On that day, you will find out if you and your children are eligible for WIC.
