years old, and their parents for the social and educational challenges that young children face as they
develop. Each head start program focuses on providing comprehensive services designed to enhance a child's
emotional, social, cultural, language, reading, mathematics, science, health and nutrition education.

Bear River Head Start is a comprehensive preschool program for children and their families. At Head Start we recognize the vital role parents play in giving their children opportunities to learn. Staff develop a partnership with parents in their child’s learning. Head Start emphasizes and teaches the importance of being healthy, eating nutritious foods, and staying safe; as well as providing information about literacy, employability, and meeting education goals.
The Early Learning Center (ELC) houses the administrative offices for the Davis School District Preschool Special Education/Early Intervention Department. We offer support to the community and families through Preschool Special Education (3-5yrs), Community Preschool (tuition based 3-5yrs), and Early Intervention (birth-34.5 mos.) programs. Mountainland Head Start provides quality educational services to all enrolled children through part-day center-based classes.We operate the traditional model for Head Start which is the part-day classroom. In this model, between sixteen and seventeen children share a classroom at the center four days per week, for 3 1/2 hours per day.
HEAD START
OWCAP Head Start is a federally funded program which offers services to all of Weber County in Northern Utah.
Children in Head Start are between the ages of three and four years old.
Children with disabilities are welcome and services are offered to meet those children’s special needs.
Rural Utah Child Development is a FREE program for prenatal mothers and families with children ages 0- 5. Well-trained, dedicated staff provides high quality education, health, and family support services to nearly 500 families in eight counties in Southeastern Utah.
Head Start and Early Head Start are comprehensive early childhood development programs serving low-income children from ages birth to five and their families. Head Start and Early Head Start are federally funded programs that are operated by local entities. Salt Lake Community Action Program is the grantee for Head Start serving Salt Lake and Tooele Counties. Children who attend Head Start participate in school-readiness curriculum that includes literacy, language, science, mathematics, and social-emotional development. They also receive medical and dental services, have healthy meals and snacks, and enjoy playing safely indoors and outdoors.
Head Start staff provide a broad range of services to approximately 440 pre-kindergarten children and their families through the SUU Head Start program. The overall goal of Head Start is to increase social competence of young children in low income families. Social competence takes into account the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of children and leads to effectiveness in dealing with the present environment and later responsibilities in school and life.
Ute Indian Tribe Head Start welcomes you to the Uintah & Ouray Reservation located in the beautiful Uintah Basin. The Ute Indian Tribe was one of the original grantees for Head Start starting its services in 1966.
Over the years Ute's program has seen a lot of changes. It has progressed from 1 classroom in Fort Duchesne to 11 classrooms at 6 different sites. We also have the option of home based education.
Their program currently serves 215 children. Over half of the children are from the Ute Tribe with the remainder coming from throughout the Uintah Basin area.
Head Start® programs promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children through the provision of educational, health, nutritional, social and others services to enrolled children and families. Services are also family-centered. They engage parents in their children's learning and help them in making progress toward their educational, literacy and employment goals. Significant emphasis is placed on the involvement of parents in the administration of Head Start® programs.
